Join me to help Habitat build homes and hope with Hurricane victims.
Hurricane Katrina and the resulting levy failures have impacted over 200,000 residences in the greater New Orleans area. Many families are still working to repair homes soaked in flood waters while others can only rebuild.
Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity International has built and rehabilitated more than 150,000 houses working with families in need. For example, a home is currently being prepared in the New Orleans area for a family with five children and one on the way. The family looks forward to moving from a temporary trailer to a permanent residence provided through the work of Habitat for Humanity.
Members of the Merrill Lynch community have supported Habitat for Humanity in many ways. In September of 2006, a group of Merrill Lynch employees from San Antonio traveled to New Orleans to help build homes in Habitat’s Musician’s Village. On Feb 25, 2007, forty-five Merrill Lynch employees will run The New Orleans Mardi Gras Marathon in an effort to raise funds to sponsor a Habitat home. In June 2007, many Merrill Lynch employees attending a Merrill Lynch conference will participate in building Habitat homes funded through this fund raising effort.
